A federal judge has halted above-ground construction of President Donald Trump’s controversial White House ballroom project, allowing only underground work to proceed while the administration appeals the decision. The ruling affects the $400 million renovation that has already seen partial demolition of the White House East Wing.
Court Ruling Details
Judge Richard Leon issued a modified order Thursday blocking above-ground construction on the massive ballroom addition to the White House. The judge permitted underground work to continue, including national security facilities beneath the property. Construction work above ground can only proceed if strictly necessary to protect those security installations, and cannot lock in the final size and scale of the controversial ballroom design.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., challenging the ballroom project. The Trump administration immediately appealed Leon’s ruling to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Leon paused his order for seven days before it takes effect, providing a brief window for legal maneuvering.

Democrats have gone to court, to stop President Trump from doing what many other Presidents have done in the past, desired upgraded construction on the White House. But unlike previous Presidents, President Trump is doing it with donated funding from his friends, who want the White House to be even greater than it is today. But Democrats don’t want the future naming of great things done to the White House, to bear President Trump’s name on it.
This is something that has been wanted for a couple of centuries, by other Presidential administrations, but couldn’t get the taxpayer funding for it. But President Trump is using any taxpayer funding, making the feat of a ‘Presidential White House Ballroom’ even a greater for the American people’s house. What is it hurting the Democrats’ pride, is that many previous Presidents made construction changes at will, without Congressional approval, but what President Trump is doing is historically great, and without costing the US taxpayers anything.
It hurts the Democrats’ pride, for not having done this under a Democrat President, and now President Trump will get all the future credit, for making the White House even greater, with his name on a ‘Ballroom’ that is better than any other country’s ballroom, that other Presidents couldn’t do without taxpayer funding, which Congress refused to fund, especially all the Democrat Presidents. And this is what the legal attempt of the Democrats, to stop President Trump from making the White House even greater, without any US taxpayer funding, that would have cost the American people, and the Democrats are super jealous and very envious, that President Trump is doing it, and will receive all the credit for it, and the Democrats will only be infamous, for attempting to stop what the federal government is being gifted, when it cost the federal government not one red cent.
