‘No Kings’ Movement Hijacks U.S. Army Celebration With Nationwide Demonstrations

Millions of Americans are gearing up for the “No Kings” protests scheduled for Saturday across locations nationwide. These protests have gained significant momentum following Trump’s recent deployment of National Guard and US Marine Corps troops to Los Angeles, which many liberals view as an alarming escalation of federal force. Which progressive groups are spearheading the movement?

Nationwide Protests Planned Against Presidential Power

Organizers behind the “No Kings” movement are expecting millions of Americans to participate in protests at approximately 2,000 sites across the nation on Saturday. The demonstrations have been strategically scheduled to coincide with President Trump’s military parade and birthday celebrations, though organizers have intentionally avoided confrontation in Washington, DC.

Interest in the protests has surged following Trump’s deployment of National Guard and US Marine Corps troops to Los Angeles, which many view as an excessive use of federal force. Ezra Levin of Indivisible, one of the organizing groups, stated: “We’ve seen hundreds of new events on the No Kings Day map since the weekend. We’ve seen hundreds of thousands of people register for those events.”

Strategic Organization and Safety Concerns

Philadelphia will host a flagship march, while Washington, DC will feature a “DC Joy Day” event away from the military parade. Organizers deliberately chose to avoid direct counter-protests in the capital, with Levin explaining: “We did not want to give him the excuse to crack down on counter-protesters in DC We didn’t want to give him the narrative device to say we’re protesting the military.”

Security concerns have prompted organizers to expand pre-protest training and increase medical support at demonstration sites. Social media channels are circulating safety tactics for participants, including advice to sit down if violence erupts during the events.

Regional Focus and Presidential Response

In Minnesota, protesters are planning to gather at the state capitol in St. Paul despite concerns about potential targeting by the Trump administration. Los Angeles demonstrations will specifically focus on opposing immigration enforcement actions and what organizers characterize as authoritarian governance.

President Trump has dismissed the protests, telling reporters: “I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get things approved.” Florida officials, including Governor DeSantis, have taken a hardline stance regarding the planned demonstrations, warning about potential consequences for disruptive behavior.

Organizers view these protests as part of a broader strategy to build sustained opposition to Trump’s policies and safeguard American democratic institutions. The demonstrations reflect growing concern among certain segments of the population about the balance of power in the federal government and the preservation of constitutional checks and balances.
