The shooter, identified as 83-year-old Dennis Erwin Brandl Jr., used a small caliber weapon during the attack. Brandl allegedly drove from Spring to Pasadena, entered the school, and shot a man who worked for another Houston-area school.

Swift Action by Pearland Band Dads

The situation could have escalated further if not for the quick thinking and bravery of a group of fathers present at the event. These men, known as the Pearland Band Dads, tackled and disarmed Brandl within moments of the shooting.

The heroes involved in the takedown were Abram Trevino, Adam Curow, Efrain “Polo” Castillo, and Joe Sanchez. These fathers, with over three decades of combined military experience, sprang into action when they heard cries of “Active shooter!”
