Kamala Harris has found herself at the center of controversy after expressing support for Los Angeles protests despite violence erupting during demonstrations. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco criticized Harris for blaming President Donald Trump for the riots rather than addressing the violent actions of protesters. What would Harris have done if she were elected president?
Harris Under Fire for Supporting LA Protests Despite Violence
Kamala Harris has drawn sharp criticism for supporting protests in Los Angeles even after demonstrators clashed violently with federal officers. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco called her statement “embarrassing,” accusing Harris and other Democratic leaders of “gaslighting” the public about the nature of the demonstrations.
Harris stated that the “demonstrations in defense of our immigrant neighbors have been overwhelmingly peaceful” and criticized Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops as a “dangerous escalation meant to provoke chaos.” Her comments came despite documented incidents of violence, including attacks on federal officers, damaged vehicles, and burning cars in downtown Los Angeles.
Thank you, America, for employing brain cells and rejecting this woman’s quest to become president of the United States. https://t.co/8H41p6e5kX

Political Battle Lines Drawn Over Federal Response
President Donald Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops and placed 500 Marines on standby to control the situation in Los Angeles. The decision has created a political firestorm between Trump and California officials, with Trump demanding apologies from Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass while issuing a directive to “liberate Los Angeles” from what he termed a “Migrant Invasion.”
Governor Newsom pushed back, claiming, “We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved,” and accused the president of breaching state sovereignty and inflaming tensions. Mayor Bass similarly opposed the deployment, arguing it was unnecessary and potentially provocative in a situation she believed local law enforcement could handle.

Law Enforcement Responds as Protests Continue
FBI Director Kash Patel issued a stern warning to protesters, stating, “Hit a cop, you’re going to jail… doesn’t matter where you came from, how you got here, or what movement speaks to you.” The FBI is currently offering a reward for information on a suspect who injured a federal officer and damaged vehicles during the protests.
Sheriff Bianco, who plans to run for California governor in 2026, shared video evidence from the riots to counter Harris’s characterization of events. “President Trump didn’t start these riots,” Bianco stated, “He’s not out there lighting cars on fire, hurling projectiles at law enforcement or blocking freeways.”
