Former President Donald Trump reportedly dropped the idea of creating a third political party, which was briefly discussed last week, and is now focused on supporting the Republican Party in winning back the House and the Senate in 2022.

New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman wrote that in the last 24 hours after Trump floated the idea that he was considering creating a third-party as a way for the Republicans to be in line ahead of the impeachment. However, Trump was talked out of it, and he is now making it clear that he will not pursue it anymore.

“Trump has started to believe there are fewer votes to convict than there would have been if the vote had been held almost immediately after Jan. 6,” Haberman wrote.

Meanwhile, Trump adviser Jason Miller responded to reports that the former president had drafted an “enemies list of Republicans for his Patriot to challenge in primaries.”

Miller said that Trump has made it clear that his goal as of the moment is for Republicans to win back the House and the Senate in 2022. He further added that there is nothing that is actively being planned about efforts that are outside of that. However, it is still completely up to the Republican Senators if this step will become more serious.

On the other hand, The Wall Street Journal also reported last week the former President Trump discussed several aides the prospect of creating a third political party, which he would call the “Patriot Party.”

The report indicated that it was unknown how serious Trump was about the idea and noted that the investment of time and resources needed to make it a major player in American politics could be a deterrent to the president.

The report by The Wall Street Journal also indicated that it was unknown how serious Trump was about the idea. The report also noted that the investment of resources and time needed to make said political party a major player in American politics could hinder the former president.

Meanwhile, the Daily Wire also reported that top pro-Trump Republicans who are close to the Trump administration, however, believe that it was a “bad idea” to create a third political party as it would split the support away from the Republican Party.

This move would then ensure that the Democrats stay as the majority party for quite some time into the future. The report further added that Democrats and leftists cheered the idea for the exact same reason.

It could be recalled that in his final day as the President of the United States, Trump told his supporters that he would be “back in some form.”

Trump also said about his administration that it has been “something very special.” He also added, “what we’ve done has been amazing by any standard. We rebuilt the United States Military. We created a new force called Space Force, which in itself would be a major achievement for a regular administration. We were not a regular administration.”

“We’ve left it all on the field,” Trump said. He also added that in the future, his family would not be left wondering whether the situation would have concluded differently if they had worked harder because he knows that they worked as hard as they could.

Trump said, “You are amazing people. This is a great, great country. It is my greatest honor and privilege to have been your president. I will always fight for you. I will be watching. I will be listening. And I will tell you that the future of this country has never been better. I wish the new administration great luck and great success.”
