Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden was placed under federal criminal investigation due to his previous business deals with China. Months before the election, law enforcement officials paused the investigation. However, now that the election is over, the investigation is back and is entering a new phase.

Federal prosecutors in Delaware are working with the FBI and the IRS Criminal Investigation agency. According to an anonymous source, they are taking overt steps such as seeking interviews and issuing a subpoena.

In a statement given by Hunter Biden, he said that he learned for the first time that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised his legal counsel that they are investigating his taxes. The younger Biden said that he takes this matter seriously. However, he is confident that a professional and objective review of the case will show that he handled his affairs appropriately, legally, and with his professional tax advisors’ advice.

Meanwhile, a CNN report said that multiple financial issues were being investigated by authorities, including among them is whether or not Hunter Biden had violated tax and money laundering laws when he conducted his business dealings in foreign countries, particularly China. The said criminal investigation against Hunter Biden started even before William Barr became the Attorney General of the U.S.

The federal criminal investigation is also looking at gifts that Hunter Biden had received from China that he may not have listed.

Last October, Hunter Biden was placed under the spotlight after the FBI had taken possession of a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden. Due to this, Biden was placed under investigation connected with an anti-money laundering examination, a story that was largely ignored by the left-wing mainstream media.

CNN also added that Hunter Biden “briefly acted as a lawyer to represent Patrick Ho, who ran an organization backed by CEFC, and who was convicted in 2018 of paying millions of dollars in bribes to officials in Chad and Uganda to benefit CEFC energy projects in those countries.” Later on, Ho was sentenced to a three-year federal prison term.

The younger Biden had also been involved in a Chinese business venture. This move drew concerns from the Obama White House and Joe Biden’s staff. In 2013, Hunder Biden was also involved with Chinese and U.S. partners who were then creating BHR Partners, an investment fund for deals outside of China. In this business venture, Hunter Biden stood as an unpaid member of the BHR board. He, later on, took an equity stake after Joe Biden left the office as a Vice President.

Meanwhile, during the campaign period, many observed how Joe Biden refused to call China an “opponent.”

Then in August, Rober O’Brien, National Security Adviser, warned that China was “trying to elect Joe Biden.” The National Security Adviser also added that China has “the most sophisticated global influence programs and strategies and abilities and capabilities in the world.”

In connection to this warning made by O’Brien, Director William Evinina of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) said in a statement last August that China is one of the countries that posed the biggest threat to the election. The Director of NCSC also added that China “preferred that President Trump – whom Beijing sees as unpredictable – does not win reelection.”
