Pence Errs, DOJ and FBI Corruption Beyond Garland

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s top goal is acting as the “good cop” to former President Trump’s “bad cop” in the deep state’s attack on GOP.

Pence spoke in New Hampshire last week about the incident’s extraordinary attack on standards. Pence wishes to remind Republicans that they can make the attorney general account for his decision without criticizing FBI agents.

He said defunding the FBI is as bad as defunding the police. They need to get to the bottom of the situation and let the facts play out, but the American people need to be persuaded of their judicial system’s integrity.

Rightfully Angry!

Conservatives are justified in their fury over the banana republic-style assault on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property.

The right answer to the Mar-a-Lago raid can’t be to wait for the DOJ and FBI to prove their case, as many did over the three years of a Russia investigation predicated on manipulation, falsehoods, and wrongdoing.

The Mar-a-Lago raid elevates the FBI’s criticism. Pence says Garland may be held accountable for politicizing justice without a comprehensive FBI review.

Though “reimagining” the FBI won’t produce a crime wave, but would allow it to attack crime instead of Biden’s adversaries.

As the Russia ruse showed, the FBI has become a domestic espionage agency as well as an entity that investigates crimes local police can’t handle.

FBI Under Edgar Hoover

Left-wingers, who formerly associated the FBI with J. Edgar Hoover’s surveillance on non-criminals and dissidents, now admire it. This is outrageous, obvious hypocrisy.

Tim Weiner, a former New York Times national security reporter and writer of a critical historical record of the FBI, has been joyous about the possibility of jailing Trump on a records charge.

However, he also attempted to distinguish between Hoover’s phone tapping of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the agency’s treatment of Trump as an organized crime figure who must be torn down by any means necessary.

Mild objections against Garland aren’t adequate in light of the Republican control of the DOJ and FBI.

No one in the FBI or DOJ was held responsible for the Russia hoax, undermining system credibility. Yet, for the same agencies to take the country down the same speculative rabbit hole is absurd.

This threatens the nation and needs Republicans to address it as an emergency, not simply another Biden administration problem.

This isn’t about Trump’s allegiance or whether Pence should have overturned the Electoral College’s decision. Pence’s need to act moderately isn’t new. His betrayal of Republicans for the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act in 2015 ought not to be forgotten.

Defunding the FBI is readily misinterpreted. Conservatives need clarity and courage when challenging the administrative state from their leaders. Pence acts like he intends to run for president in 2024.

The Mar-a-Lago raid showed that Trump is correct to restructure the so-called “civil service” because of its political corruption.
