Pelosi’s House Vandalized with Political Messages

The home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was vandalized last Friday morning with political messages in reference to the stimulus check enhancement that passed the House on Monday.

A report by the local CBS News Affiliate, KPIX, revealed that the act of Vandalism into Pelosi’s House happened hours before New Year’s eve.

Meanwhile, a photo from the scene shows that there were multiple messages that were written on the garage door such as, “cancel rent,” “we want everything,” “UBI,” about the Universal Basic Income, and “$2K,” in connection with the stimulus check. There was also a severed pig’s head that was left in the middle of the scene.

The House Speaker was reportedly not at home at the time of the incident. A neighbor to Pelosi told KPIX, “I don’t think that this is a useful way to go about it and it’s a terrible start to this new year when we are hoping for less anger and hatred than we’ve had to deal with for the last year.”

KPIX tried to reach out to House Speaker Pelosi’s office for comment on the incident; however, the news outlet has not heard back from them. San Francisco police also haven’t released any information about the suspects in the case. No one has even come forward to claim responsibility for the Vandalism.

Last Monday, the House speaker spearheaded the bill’s passage to increase the stimulus checks from $600 to $2,000. Two hundred seventy-five members of the House of Representatives voted for the bill, and 134 voted against it.

Senate Majority Leader’s home, Mitch McConnell (R-KY), was also vandalized as spray paint of political messages and expletives were also seen on McConnell’s House’s front door. A photo of the scene revealed the words “Where’s my money” written on the black front door of McConnell’s House.

On Saturday, the Senate Majority leader said, “Vandalism and the politics of fear have no place in our society. My wife and I have never been intimidated by this toxic playbook. We hope our neighbors in Louisville aren’t too inconvenienced by this radical tantrum.”

The House of Representatives that is led by Pelosi, has passed an enhancement for the stimulus checks. The COVID-19 stimulus package was signed into law by President Trump. Although the President and 44 Republican members of the House have supported the idea of increasing the amount of the stimulus checks, the Senate has not agreed to take up a stand-alone vote for the policy, and many Republicans have resisted the idea.

In a rare session on New Year’s Day, the Senate Majority leader, Mitch McConnell, stated that a “huge chunk” of the stimulus check was sent to the people who do not need it. He said that this results in “socialism for rich people, money flowing into households earning well over six figures who did not lose any jobs or income last year.”

During the Friday legislative session, Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-SD), who objected to the stimulus checks passed by the House, said, “This is simply not targeted relief for the people who need it the most.” He added, “Those who say that we should just vote on this flawed House bill conveniently leave out the fact that they do not want us to amend it to make it better to deliver more assistance to people who are hurting the most.”
