Pelosi slammed AOC: “You’re not a one-person show.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has some fiery words to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the members of the “squad” in her forthcoming book. 

According to a published excerpt from the book written by award-winning journalist, Susan Page, Pelosi has some humbling words for U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the other members of the so-called “Squad”: “You’re not a one-person show. This is the Congress of the United States.”

According to Page, Pelosi adopted a “child-like tone” when talking about discussing Ocasio-Cortez. 

In an excerpt from the book that was published by USA Today, where Page worked as chief of the Washington bureau, Page recounts an interview that she had with Pelosi last July 2019 after her dispute with the Squad had “exploded.”

Page wrote, “Her anger at the four new progressive congresswomen was palpable.”

As previously reported by Fox News during a press conference last July 2019, Pelosi pushed back on questions related to Trump’s efforts to characterize the progressive Squad members as the face of the Democratic Party. Pelosi said, “let’s not waste our time on that.”

Members of the Squad were upset with Pelosi at the time as they alleged that the House Speaker was singling them out because they were women of color. Pelosi also made remarks about the “Squad’s” prowess on social media amid their protest against an emergency border aid bill. 

Meanwhile, a study has declared Ocasio-Cortez as one of the least effective members of Congress, making her earn the label of “the queen of Twitter, but less successful at lawmaking.”

According to a new survey from the Center of Effective Lawmaking, a nonpartisan project of Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia, Ocasio-Cortez introduced a total of 21 bills, however, her legislation received no action in committees, no floor votes, and none of it ever became law. Said data comes from Congress.gov.

“She introduced a lot of bills, but she was not successful at having them receive any sort of action in committee or beyond committee and if they can’t get through committee they cannot pass the House,” Political scientist and co-director of the center, Alan Wiseman, told The Post. 

Wiseman added, “It’s clear that she was trying to get her legislative agenda moving and engage with the lawmaking process. But she wasn’t as successful as some other members were — even among [other] freshmen — at getting people to pay attention to her legislation.”

Looking at the legislative effectiveness of all congressional Democrats, Ocasio-Cortez was ranked 230 out of 240 Democrats. Then among the 19 Democratic lawmakers from New York, AOC is ranked last.

Among the bills that AOC introduced that never prospered were, ban on fracking, a federal overhaul of public housing, and a mandate to provide full federal public benefits to illegal immigrants. 

Democratic House insiders also stated that many of Ocasio-Cortez’s colleagues found her approach rather alienating. 

“Tweeting is easy, governing is hard. You need to have friends. You need to understand the committee process, you need to be willing to make sacrifices,” said one. “Her first day in Congress … she decided to protest outside of Nancy Pelosi’s office.”

Another Democratic insider who previously worked with her in the New York delegation added that “legislation was never her focus. It was media and narrative.” 

Meanwhile, Representative Nicol Malliotakis, (R-NY) told The Post, “Her [AOC’s] ludicrous policy ideas would destroy our country — Americans should be thankful she’s not effective.”
