Conservative author and commentator Candace Owens won the challenge against PolitiFact, a left-leaning fact-checking site and Facebook partner after PolitiFact admitted to their fault.
Not only did the website removed the “false” rating on the video, but they also retracted an article describing why Owens’ video was allegedly false. PolitiFact also offered a “correction” in addition to them admitting their fault.
On November 12, Owens posted a footage captioned as “Joe Biden is literally and legally not the President-elect. So why is the media pretending he is?” The video contains a commentary on the 2020 presidential election.
Weeks ago, @Facebook censored a post of mine which truthfully stated that @JoeBiden is NOT the President-elect.
So I got lawyers involved.
Conclusion? @PolitiFact uncensored the post & admitted that they LIED by rating my post false.

According to Owens, negative ratings hit the video, and Facebook warned everyone who shared the video that they are sharing “false” content.
After the censorship that Facebook and PolitiFact applied on the said footage, Owens took it on Twitter and wrote:
“Weeks ago, [Facebook] censored a post of mine which truthfully stated that [Joe Biden] is NOT the President-elect. So I got lawyers involved,”
In a follow-up tweet, Owens said that after she got her legal representative involved, PolitiFact uncensored the video and admitted to her that they lied by rating her post “false.” She then added, “The fact-checkers are lying for Democrats.”
In response to this, PolitiFact posted a note. In the message, it says:
“PolitiFact originally labeled this video false in our capacity as a third-party fact-checker for Facebook. On November 20, an appeal to that decision was made on behalf of Ms. Owens. PolitiFact approved the appeal on November 20, determined that a correction was appropriate, and removed the false rating.”
Incredibly— they didn’t just rate my post false, they authored an entire article along w/ it, explaining why Joe-Biden IS the President-elect.
Once I lawyered up, they retracted the article & issued a correction.

Owens said that she wanted to show how these fact-checkers lie and when this happens, it usually goes unchecked because not everyone has the time, money, and the platform to go after them, and she has all three, the commentator said.
Unfortunately, she stated, at eight months pregnant, she cannot fight on the ground anymore compared to what she used to do. However, despite her situation, she is taking every step that she can to go against these communists through legal means.
“It is my goal to expose these lying ”fact-checkers” one by one. [Joe Biden] is NOT the President-elect,” Owens added.
However, this bold move by Owens and the truth behind what happened was downplayed by PolitiFact’s note.
Owens told The Daily Wite that she tried to reach out to PolitiFact last November 20. And with the pressure from her legal representation, she immediately heard back from them. This was also the instance when PolitiFact admitted to the error that they made.
According to Owens, a lawyer at PolitiFact wrote the following:
“Upon first glance, this video from Ms. Owens was labeled false from PolitiFact in error. We already have removed the label from the video, and you should now be able to see it unobstructed.
As we’re about 25 minutes into this, we still don’t know how or why the post was labeled ”false.” We are investigating and hope to share more information with you formally on Monday.”
Owens then stated, “That was a win. And another major win.” She also added that PolitiFact basically admitted that Joe Biden is not the President-elect.

After PolitiFact gave their statement, Owens said she was not provided any other information on the alleged “error.” The commentator then said that she felt that PolitiFact’s move was not enough. She wants them to admit to the public that they “falsely” fact-check her.
Owens is currently suing various fact-checkers, including ones from USAToday and Lead Stories. She told The Daily Wire that she recognized the need to have legal representation if she wants to see results. She also based this move on her experience when she tried to appeal to these fact-checkers herself, where she said she has been “stonewalled.”
“These people are sitting back thinking they’re the gods of tech; opinion-checkers, they’re censorship lords,” the BLEXIT founder said.
Owens aims to end censorship for the millions of Americans sharing their information or opinion against the “accepted narrative from the Left.” If she wins this legal battle, the conservative author said it could set a precedent for more class-action lawsuits against Facebook from other people who have also been censored.
