Hannity Blasts Biden for Deciding to “Took the Day Off” Amid Texas Disaster

As millions of Texas residents are suffering from the deadly effects of the winter storm, President Biden “took the day off,” according to Sean Hannity. 

“Where is our commander in chief?” Hannity asked. The host added, “You know, that new guy? Oh, that’s right! This morning, he decided to take a snow day. The guy ultimately in charge of FEMA and all of the country’s emergency resources and federal agencies? Yeah, he took a day off in the middle of this natural disaster. Where’s the feigned phony, selective liberal outrage on this?”

Hannity added, “To be fair, it’s not even really totally clear that Joe even fully understands what’s going on in Texas.” 

At 8 a.m on Thursday, the White House announced the so-called “Travel/Photo Lid” as Biden did not appear on camera at any time during the day.

A “lid” is a term used by the White House, indicating the end of in-person public events for the day. It also provides a signal to the press that there will be no more news to be announced within the day. 

Then on Thursday, at 11:30 pm, Biden eventually wrote on Twitter insisting that he is “working on” the situation in Texas as he shared pictures of him talking to Texas Gov. Abbott about the issue. 

The administration released a mere readout of a phone call between Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the President about the previously approved emergency declarations in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Hannity also slammed Bette Midler for posting a message on Twitter last Tuesday, saying, “I feel for the people suffering thru [sic] this weather, but #God doesn’t seem to like [Senators] #TedCruz or #JohnCornyn.”

Hannity also criticized “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd for saying on air that the only “upside” of the bad winter weather is that “I assume the cold weather motivates people to wear a mask because it’s one extra layer on your face.”

Hannity asked, “To Chuck Todd and Bette Midler: Do they know that people died in this storm and Texans are suffering and older people are shivering in their homes? Have they figured that out yet?”

On Thursday, President Biden talked to Texas Governor Greg Abbott about the ongoing winter storm crisis that left millions of people without power for days. 

Abbott also said in an earlier news conference that he would ask Biden to declare a major disaster declaration in order to help residents whose homes have been affected by the Arctic winter storm that left dozens of people dead, according to KSAT-TV in San Antonio. 

In addition to this, Gov. Abbott also called on state lawmakers to provide a mandate on the winterization of power generators for the grid’s modernization. 

To date, there are at least 24 people who died in Texas as one of the worst winter storms hits the state. As the electricity fails for millions of people, there are dozens left freezing in subzero temperatures. 

This week, temperatures plummeted to as low as -2F, snow and ice-covered much of the state. 

There are over 325,000 homes and businesses that still do not have power. However, this number is already down from the previous 3 million homes, which have no power last Wednesday. 

Meanwhile, there are images of desperate Texans waiting in line to buy groceries. However, by the time that they go inside the shops, they found the shelves virtually empty. 

The extreme winter weather conditions, together with the lack of power supply, have left the state in crisis in the food supply chain. The blackouts spoiling fresh produce and dangerous icy roads prevented delivery trucks from arriving to replace stock. 

To make the situation worse, access to fresh drinking water is also becoming more scarce, after days of record low temperatures that destroyed water treatment plants and froze pipes.

Officials in the state placed a quarter of its population under orders to boil tap water before drinking it.
