Death of Queen Elizabeth II Marks the End of an Era

On Thursday, September 8, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96. The cause of death has not been released by the medical team responsible for the health of the monarch and the British royal family.

International news agencies reported during the morning that Elizabeth suffered a fall; although this is information not yet confirmed by family members. On Twitter, the Royal Family only reported Elizabeth II died peacefully.

In addition to the accident hypothesis, the monarch’s health has been a cause for increasing concern since October last year. Here, it was revealed she spent a night in the hospital to undergo medical examinations that were never detailed.

Her death marks the end of an era, including a close relationship with the United States and its presidents.

The Special Relationship

The US fought against the UK to gain independence in 1776. Though under Queen Elizabeth II, in particular, the special relationship was cemented and strengthened.

As allies against the Nazis and by forming closer economic ties, the queen and the British nation became seen increasingly as our stalwart allies.

Britain has been having a lot of turmoil recently; its former Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently was replaced by Conservative Party member Liz Truss.

Normally the queen would go to London to oversee the transition, but she stayed at the residence at Balmoral, prior to her death.

It’s been clear for some time now that the queen’s health has been declining, so her death doesn’t come as a shock.

Still, there is a lot of sadness in the UK and around the world as her reign comes to an end. Queen Elizabeth II was coronated in June 1953. She served faithfully since that time as a symbol of the British crown and its chief global representative.

Who Takes Over the British Crown?

The British Parliament will be convened in a special way and will hold several days of mourning. Charles Prince of Wales, 79, is the heir to the British crown and will be proclaimed king on Friday.

The heir to the British crown has two children and five grandchildren, namely Prince William, Harry, and George, Charlotte and Louis, children of William and Kate Middleton; and Archie and Lilibet Diana, sons of Harry and Meghan.

After Charles’ death, the succession line is formed by Charles’ eldest son, Prince William, followed by William’s eldest son, Prince George.

The royal family will continue its march into history, but it will never be the same without the queen.

A Proud Legacy

Queen Elizabeth II had a proud legacy across the British Commonwealth, helping foster close ties with allies and foreign leaders including American presidents, such as President Reagan.

This woman came from a tough generation that survived World War II and led the West through its darkest times. Her likeness will not be seen again.
