An underage “jugging” robbery suspect paralyzed a mother of three in a vicious bodyslamming attack. Despite that, he has seen his bond halved from $200,000 to $100,000 in an apparent playout of “soft-on-crime” policies.
Bodyslamming in ‘Jugging’ Robbery
17-year-old Joseph Harrell is accused of attacking a woman in Houston, Texas on February 13, 2023. He’s then accused of seizing $4,300 in cash that she had just withdrawn from a bank.
Harrell was arrested weeks after the incident, following an investigation. The police released security camera footage showing how the suspect ferociously bodyslammed the middle-aged woman to the ground.
According to the police, the underage suspect followed his victim for 24 miles after she made the cash withdrawal, Fox News reported, citing court records in Harris County, Texas.
His attack is described as a “jugging crime,” in which a criminal stalks a victim after retail stores or banks. This is done in order to attack and rob them when they are “juggling” their keys and phones before entering their car or home.

Suspect Raked in Three Major Crimes in Two Months
After Harrell got arrested for aggravated robbery, local prosecutors asked for him to get held on a $200,000 bond. They pointed out the underage criminal had only been released on January 26 on a $100 bond after detention for unlawfully carrying a weapon.
The prosecutors wrote that Harrell fractured the spine of his victim, Nhung Truong, broke her ribs, and caused her to become paralyzed below the arms.
Even though the $200,000 bond was first granted on March 17, on March 22, Judge Kristin Guiney decided to cut it in half to $100,000.
Catherine Evans, a lawyer appointed to defend the suspect, told the news outlet that if the bond was posted, Harrell would be released to house arrest and would wear a GPS monitor.
What is particularly shocking, however, is the fact the 17-year-old criminal appears to have also committed another serious crime between the bodyslamming assault and the illegal weapon carrying.
On February 25, he and an accomplice allegedly robbed a woman in Southern Houston, stealing her purse, as per a probable cause affidavit. In that case, Harrell is facing another felony charge: aggravated assault committed with a deadly weapon.
