Biden Praised Trump Administration’s “Operation Warp Speed”

On Monday, President-elect Joe Biden received his coronavirus vaccine at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. After getting the shot, he told Americans, “there’s nothing to worry about.”

At ChristianaCare Hospital, Biden received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Tabe Masa, a nurse practitioner and head employee of the health services, administered the shot.

Seconds after receiving the first shot of the vaccine, Biden told the people, “I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared, when it’s available, to take the vaccine.” He added, “There’s nothing to worry about. I’m looking forward to the second shot.”

In addition to this, the President-elect also praised President Trump for the efforts that his administration did in helping accelerate the means of bringing Coronavirus vaccines to the American people.

Biden said, “I think the administration deserves some credit getting this off the ground with Operation Warp Speed.” He also stated that the Trump administration gave the people and the country great hope.

In an appearance on “The Late Show,” Biden told Stephen Colbert, “I think what he’s done, getting the vaccine moving, has been positive.” Referring to Trump’s efforts to accelerate the process of making the vaccine available to the public.

Joe Biden also added that he is planning to ask Trump to authorize more funding for COVID-19 vaccines in case Congress forwards a bill for the President’s signature. Biden told Colbert, “We’re going to need more vaccine. We’re going to need more money.” He continued and said, “we’re going to need more to be able to get this distributed. But it’s underway. And I believe we can get one. I think we can get 100 million vaccinations taking place. That’s and some of the vaccinations, you know, require two different shots, two different times. I know. And one of the things I’m pleading with the President to do now is order more of it.” Jill Biden, Joe Biden’s wife, also received her coronavirus vaccine earlier on Monday.

Biden’s statements came less than a week after the FDA formally granted emergency approval of the coronavirus vaccine released by BioNTech and Pfizer.

In a video of President Trump that was released as soon as the FDA gave its green light, President Trump addressed the development of the COVID-19 vaccine as a “medical miracle,” emphasizing that the job was accomplished in just nine months. He also acknowledged the millions of dollars that were invested by the federal government.

Next week, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and her husband, Dough Emhoff, are also expected to get the vaccine.

Last Friday, Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky), and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) all had their vaccine shot. Mike Pence received his COVID vaccine in a televised appearance to promote the safety of the vaccine and improve public confidence in its effectiveness.

Meanwhile, President Trump, who had the virus in October, was treated with monoclonal antibodies, which was still in its experimental stage at that time. He stated that he is also looking forward to having the vaccine “at the appropriate time”.

This list of lawmakers received the COVID-19 vaccine just a few days after the first shipments were given to health care facilities all over the country. The first batch of the vaccine was given to people at high risk of contracting the virus, such as nursing home residents and front line workers, with broader distribution at no given cost for recipients. This process is planned to take place in the weeks and months ahead.

The COVID-19 vaccines arrived at the same week that the country set the highest coronavirus cases and deaths. In the U.S. alone, the disease caused by the virus has killed over 318,000 people and infected approximately 18 million.
