Biden finally appeared in an in-person interview with an American journalist for the first time in over 200 days.
In CBS News’ “60 Minutes” interview, Biden discussed various issues, including inflation, the Russia-Ukraine war, rising enmity between the US and China, and the midterm elections.
For a long time, Biden shied away from sitting with American journalists amid speculations that he is unhappy with most mainstream media outlets.
Biden Finally Sat Down to Defend His Mess
On Sunday, CBS News will air Biden’s one-on-one interview with its correspondent Scott Pelley.
The last time Biden appeared in a one-on-one interview with an American journalist was on February 10, when NBC host Lester Holt interviewed the president.
#60Minuetes will do a softball, no lies challenged interview of President Biden. I am sure they received a list of approved questions beforehand, because CBS is. It biased at all. I am longing for the old 60 Min. That had journalistic integrity

According to Gayle King, who is a co-host of “CBS Morning,” Biden will talk about a wide variety of issues during his interview, adding the president has some good news to share with Americans.
Likewise, King noted Biden would also discuss his deal with railway workers, which averted the nationwide railway strike.
In a preview of the interview released by CBS News, Pelley asked Biden how he managed to convince the railway workers who could have impacted the whole US economy after going to strike.
Biden replied he addressed the concerns of both the businessmembers and the labor community, which helped him in striking a successful deal.
While bragging about his accomplishment, Biden noted the rail workers’ strike could have destroyed the whole intra-country supply chain to send the US economy into a recession.
The president also warned Russian President Vladimir Putin against the use of chemical and nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war.

Although Biden refused to tell exactly what steps he would take if Russia uses weapons of mass destruction; he claimed the US would retaliate unprecedentedly to teach an unforgettable lesson to Russia.
Biden’s Habit of Avoiding the Media
Reportedly, Biden has appeared in fewer interviews compared to his predecessors in the first 20 months of his presidency.
Even in February, when Biden appeared in NBC’s interview, it was his once-in-a-blue-moon appearance since he sat down with a journalist after a gap of four months.
In June, Biden appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He talked with Jay Leno about his old car, but he remained reluctant to sit down for a one-on-one interview with an American journalist.
Apart from his CBS interview, Biden has given only four other interviews in the last 200 days, which includes speaking to Israeli reporter Yonit Levi and Associated Press journalist Josh Boak.
Previous reports have indicated Biden was unhappy with mainstream media outlets and his communications team, which was unable to portray him as an effective president.
Skyrocketing inflation and surging illegal immigration crises encouraged many mainstream media networks to speak against Democrats in recent months.
