Biden Eases Oil Sanctions on Socialist Regime of Venezuela

The Biden administration has announced to ease the sanctions on Venezuela in an effort to tame global energy markets. Biden’s efforts to increase oil production in the socialist country come at a time when he is opposing domestic oil production within the United States.

Biden Allows Oil Drilling in Venezuela

Venezuela was subjected to American restrictions, due to rising authoritarianism in the country.

Biden has decided to collaborate with one of the most socialist regimes in the world to control energy prices that could have been easily handled by starting domestic oil production within the US.

Under the new policy, the US will allow California-based oil firm, Chevron, to resume energy production in Venezuela. According to the Treasury Department, Chevron now owns a license to import petroleum products in collaboration with Venezuelan state-owned oil giant PDVSA.

American energy sanctions denied cash flow to the socialist government of Venezuela for a long time, but Biden’s decision will now strengthen the socialist regime further.

Political observers are also asking how America can decide to do business with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros when the US does not even recognize him as the legitimate president of the country.

Currently, most of the world, including the United States, considers Juan Guaido as the president of Venezuela, but he spends most of his time in jail.

Maduro’s government was also responsible for taking seven American hostages in either jail or house arrest until recently when it released them in a prisoner swap deal with the United States.

Biden’s Hypocrisy Exposed

Biden’s soft-hearted policy for Venezuela also suggests the incumbent administration is ready to compromise on its own principles if oil is involved in a deal.

Previously, Biden also slammed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman for his alleged involvement in the murder of Washington Post journalist, Jamal Khashoggi. Biden met with the same crown prince recently for the sake of bringing oil prices down.

Reportedly, Biden will also help Russia if he makes oil deals with the Venezuelan government. Currently, Russia owns a majority of Venezuelan oil resources, which means more oil production in Venezuela will put more money in the pockets of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Apart from that, political observers are also slamming Biden for not continuing oil production in the United States to lure far-left voters who are more concerned about climate change than oil prices.

However, the same Biden administration is dealing with socialist governments to increase oil production, even though these countries are likely to inflict more damage to the climate.

This is due to their lack of sophisticated infrastructure, which is supposed to reduce carbon emissions during oil production.

This means Biden could easily do oil drilling in the US by releasing fewer gasses into the atmosphere, but he prefers to release more carbon by starting oil drilling in less developed nations.
