According to NBC news sources, the Biden administration is developing a plan to house any overflowing migrants from the border at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. This used to be a high-security prison for terrorists.
Apparently, the plan was pitched to the Department of Homeland Security as a means of dealing with the massive number of Haitian immigrants apprehended at sea.
This is complicated by the fact they need to be located in a third country while awaiting processing.
Don’t forget, Trump was criticized for much less
The move is reminiscent of the widely-criticized detainment cells that the Trump administration used at the border; although it’s highly unlikely that Biden will become the object of scorn as much as the former president did.

Unlike the holding cells though, Guantanamo Bay is infamous for being one of the world’s highest security prisons. They’re holding some of the world’s most dangerous criminals in captivity, including the terrorists involved in the 9/11 attacks.
After being closed down, the former prison was occasionally used as a containment facility for migrants from Cuba and Haiti in the past as well; although the border situation was never at the point it is today.
This is exactly why everyone is baffled as to why Biden didn’t simply close down the border in response to the massive influx of Haitian immigrants, instead of dedicating additional funds to housing them at the Guantanamo Bay facility.

Addressing an issue, without solving it
Almost one year ago, Haitian migrants put a serious strain on the Border Patrol force in Del Rio, Texas; they gathered in a huge crowd underneath the international bridge, attempting to cross over into the US illegally.
Unfortunately, they’re not the only ones. Thousands of other Central and South American migrants lost their lives at the crossings, motivated by the Biden administration’s lack of resolve when it comes to properly dealing with the issue.
Instead of criticizing the nation of Haiti though, one NSC representative claimed the US will remain in full support of providing aid to Haitians who attempt to migrate into the US, as well as assist the Haitian National Police in their constant battle against organized crime in the country.

Instead of employing preventive measures to halt the incoming wave of migrants from the country, DHS referenced the several contingency plans the US has to deal with a surge in maritime migration; immediate deportation somehow isn’t one of them.
Sooner than later, the US will become overrun with illegal aliens, all of it enabled by the woke left that refuses to face facts and accept there’s a reason it’s called illegal immigration.
Hilariously enough, this might be the first time Biden actually acted on something that’s happening at the border.
While detainment until processing won’t do much to solve the overarching problem, we can at least hope the wave of red in the midterms will help change things for the better.
