On Wednesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was slammed on Twitter; she posted a lengthy message highlighting the predicament that her grandmother faced in storm-struck Puerto Rico.
Ocasio-Cortez started her tweet by saying that her grandmother fell ill over a week ago. She then said that she traveled there to see her, which is the first time she visited in a year due to COVID.
The congresswoman then added a picture of her grandma’s house with a damaged roof, a small dresser with no bedding.
Just over a week ago, my abuela fell ill. I went to Puerto Rico to see her- my 1st time in a year+ bc of COVID.

After this, Ocasio-Cortez went on through her usual rhetoric of blaming the Trump administration for what happened. She said that the relief hasn’t arrived, alleging without evidence that Trump blocked the money for PR.
Then, in the next few tweets, the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist aimed at the former administration and other local politicians over the issue of aid distribution after Hurricane Maria in 2017.

Meanwhile, social media users criticized Ocasio-Cortez for not doing more for her aged grandmother.
Daily Wire host Matt Walsh wrote on Twitter, saying that it is a shame that Ocasio-Cortez lives in luxury while her grandmother suffers in these horrible conditions.
Walsh then retorted saying that Ocasio-Cortez used her grandmother’s suffering to gain political points. Now, he wanted to ask how come she didn’t even bother to fix her grandma’s collapsing roof or even buy her new furniture. Why does Ocasio-Cortez have to wait for the government to do it?

Lavern Spicer, a Florida Republican congressional candidate also chimed in, saying that Ocasio-Cortez drives a Tesla and owns two apartments in New York.
Spicer added that if her grandmother is living in these types of conditions it is because the congresswoman did not help her out. The GOP congressional candidate also added that he is surprised a socialist would not redistribute her wealth to her grandma.
Another Twitter user posted a comment saying that AOC should sell her Tesla and be ashamed for letting her grandma live like this. The user added that we have our own responsibility to take good care of our elders.

Meanwhile, this month, The Washington Free Beacon reported that Ocasio-Cortez owns a Model 3 Long Range Tesla, which is priced between $46,000 to $59,000.
There are also different news outlets who reported that the congresswoman lives in a DC apartment building where the rent ranges from $2,000 per month to $5,000.
On the other hand, another Twitter user negated Ocasio-Cortez’s allegations. This person says he spent a week in Puerto Rico (everywhere from East Coast to West Coast) and not a single resident thought that what happened has anything to do with Trump. I
