Abortion Politics: Democrats Funding Pro-Life Races

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) often claimed to protect abortion rights in America and bashed pro-life Republicans.

However, the same committee is pouring tens of thousands of dollars into the congressional campaign of pro-life Texas Democratic candidate Dan Sanchez.

Sanchez is running in the special election of the House to be held on June 14.

Hypocrisy of the DCCC

Sanchez and the DCCC collaborated on a $100,000 ad partnership in Texas; these ads have already begun to run on Saturday.

On May 31, Sanchez declared he is “Catholic” and supports a pro-life stance. Reporters also asked him if his stance changed after the leaked Supreme Court documents of Roe v. Wade.

Responding to that, Sanchez noted his stance regarding abortion did not change since he was a child; he was born and raised in a Catholic family.

He also asserted he respects children’s rights after they are born, so he supports healthcare and childcare once kids are born and not being cared for by their parents.

These views of the congressional candidates are in contrast with the official narrative of the Democrat Party, as even moderate Democrats claim to be pro-choice.

Not only this, but the DCCC is also an ardent supporter of these so-called abortion rights. Last month, the official Twitter account of the DCCC posted that Democrats are striving to codify Roe v. Wade at a time when the GOP is blocking it.

Likewise, the chairman of the DCCC, Sean Patrick Maloney, said overturning Roe v. Wade will result in blocking fundamental human rights, adding Republicans are trying not to raise this issue in front of voters.

The committee also asked people to vote for Democrats in the 2022 elections so the “fundamental rights” of Americans could be protected.

Similarly, the committee continued, the pro-choice stance of Democrats is the “last line of defense” against the conservative ideology.

The 2022 elections will be the best way to find out if the prevailing “cruel restrictions” will remain in the country, the DCCC added.

Inconsistent Approach Regarding Abortion

Furthermore, despite having no legal backing, the campaign committee claimed “abortion is legal” and Democrats will fight to protect this right for Americans.

However, the same DCCC is now funding the campaign of the pro-life Democrat, signaling the organization only supports the cause for political gains and has no ideological roots.

Sanchez is running in the district from where Democratic stalwart Filemon Vela resigned earlier this year after representing it for almost ten years.

Now, Vela is also supporting the candidacy of Sanchez.

If he wins his election, he will be just a second pro-life Democrat in the House, joining Henry Cuellar, who also represents Texas.

Mayra Flores of the Republican Party is the major contender to challenge Sanchez on June 14.
